Central Basketball Skills - Marshalltown
The Special Olympics Iowa Central Basketball Skills Competition will take place on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, Veteran's Memorial Coliseum (20 W State St, Marshalltown, IA 50158).
We are searching for volunteers to help the day of with various tasks such as:
-Adding up scores on the scoresheets, accurately placing athletes based on their divisions, and awarding athletes with their medals
-Lead a group of athletes from station to station and ensure athletes' are stepping forward when it is their turn to compete
-Cheer on each individual athlete in their group as they compete
-Assist in running the Basketball Skills stations, which include:
| Developmental Speed Dribble | The objective of Developmental Speed Dribble is to dribble the ball as many times as possible during a 60-second time period |
| Spot Shot | The objective of Spot Shot is to measure an athlete's skill in shooting a basketball. The athlete will attempt to complete two baskets from six spots marked on the court |
| Target Pass | The objective of Target Pass is to measure an athlete's skill in passing a basketball. The athlete must pass the basketball to hit a marked square on the wall while remaining within a marked square on the court |
| Ten Meter Speed Dribble | The objective of Ten Meter Speed Dribble is to measure an athlete's speed and skill in dribbling a basketball. The athlete must dribble the basketball while moving from start to finish |
Volunteers will have the opportunity to engage with and create meaningful interactions with Special Olympic athletes throughout the duration of the event.
